April 2022 Changes

We have summarised the pay increases being introduced in April 2022 below.

National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage

The following National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW) increases are set to take effect from April 2022:

21-22 Year Old Rate £8.36 £9.18
18-20 Year Old Rate £6.56 £6.83
16-17 Year Old Rate £4.62 £4.81
Apprentice Rate £4.30 £4.81
Accommodation Offset £8.36 £8.70

Other Pay Increases

The rates of statutory maternity, adoption, paternity and other parental leave will increase from £151.97 to £156.66 per week.

The rate of statutory sick pay (SSP) will also change from £96.35 to £99.35 per week.

The lower earnings limit will rise to £123.00 per week.

National Insurance Contributions for both employers and employees will increase by 1.25%. This has been ear marked by the Government for the NHS and social care.
